Jen White Johnson

Artist, Activist, Designer, & Educator

What if no one is telling your story? When local Afro-Latina artist, designer, educator, and activist Jennifer White Johnson couldn’t find books that represented her Black autistic son, Knox, she took matters into her own hands. Together, they created KnoxRoxs, an award-winning photo zine sharing their story to give visibility to children in the Black autistic community. Based in Baltimore, Jen’s art focuses on celebrating Black-disabled joy and envisioning inclusive futures. Through her creative work and advocacy, she challenges societal norms and empowers families to embrace and support their neurodivergent loved ones. Jen and Knox continue to collaborate on new zines, furthering their mission of acceptance and representation.
