Veronica Melendez is an interdisciplinary artist, publisher, and curator. Having grown up around a large Central American community in DC, her work explores the many ways in which people in the diaspora find and create home. Veronica founded La Horchata, a zine celebrating Central American creatives in the diaspora. In 2018, she received the Archive of Documentary Arts Collection Award from Duke University for her impactful work. Her art has been featured in The Washington Post, NPR, and VICE, and La Horchata has been showcased at the Museum of Latin American Art and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. As an assistant professor of photography and creative arts at Hampshire College, Veronica continues to inspire and educate, connecting people through art and culture.
