A visual arts-based group build with a whimsical twist.
Concept:
Each student creates one part of a creature that comes together to form a collaborative class sculpture.
Time: 10 -15 minutes
Materials (per student)
- 1 cardboard square (~4×4 inches)
- Markers or colored pencils
- Scissors
- Tape or glue stick
- 1 pipe cleaner or strip of paper for 3D feature
Instructions
- The Challenge: Everyone creates a different body part of a made-up creature (head, wings, legs, tail, etc.). You’ll join them together into one giant critter!
- Create: (7-10 minutes) Decorate and shape your piece. Add at least one 3Ddetail (ears, antennae, spikes).
- Assemble: (3-4 minutes): As a group, arrange and tape your parts to get her into one mega creature on the board or wall.
- Reflect: (1-2 minutes): How did your piece contribute to the final creation? What surprised you when everything came together?
